In case you have never heard of it, Thermite is a pyrotechnic composition of metal powder fuel and metal oxide which is ignited by heat. Once ignited this composition an exothermic reduction (redox) reaction which burns violently at around 1000 degrees Celsius. Amongst other uses this material has found its use in welding or so called exothermic bonding. This is a very dangerous process since a small amount of salt or water can also cause a violent reaction. Today we bring you a video of this kind of Thermite welding being done on a railroad track in Sweden. Check out these professionals performing one very dangerous task.
